So I've noticed numerous times about people posting traced or heavily referenced official show art with absolutely no credit. I get why this is allowed for Wings of Fire official content, but I don't get why this is allowed with any show.
If someone were to post traced official art of, say, a really obscure show, and didn't mention anywhere it was traced, unless it's obvious, who's going to know it's traced? That's still technically theft, who's going to know it was official art? It doesn't make sense that we're allowed to trace official show art from anything and not have to credit.
And where is the line drawn between official shows and smaller projects? Where does it stop being illegal traced art and start being official show art? I don't get it at all, and it feels unfair to any creators that we're allowed to trace without credit.
I do see where it's coming from with official Wings of Fire content, as everyone is going to know it's official art, but not where it can be any official art.
We say that you can't post bases without credit or else it's considered stealing. so why isn't it the same for show art? Why are we allowed to not credit traced art from any official thing?
Also, I'd like to point out how it says traced art isn't allowed at all in the rules, so either it hasn't been updated or it's not being followed correctly. (I’d also like to propose an update of the rules, they feel really outdated.)
Tracing art, claiming art you did not create as your own, and other forms of theft are not permissible.
I propose that all traced content from official shows, (besides WoF, since it remains obvious. Or not, we could include it) is required to at least credit the show for the original art, since I've seen a lot of it before and absolutely no credit. It's still tracing, and it's still theft.
I know people trace for practice, but it feels really wrong to trace art and not credit at all. (This tracing wouldn’t apply to meme images [IRL pictures of non-art] as they aren’t necessarily a piece of art that some spent time drawing.)
So there's my proposal. This has been bothering me for a while, and I thought I should put it out.
Sorry if anything here isn't correct or I've mistaken anything, but feel free to add on in the comments whatever I may have missed or incorrectly believed.
(also, I do believe there was a thread for suggestions but I am unable to find it- if so, can anyone provide a link?)
